FSJ

Fsj is simply an abbreviation for Freiwilliges Soziales Jahr, Which in English means voluntary social year. Germany is a wonderful country that offers an opportunity to all nationalities aged between 18 years to 26 years to participate in voluntary social service to society. This program is empowered by the German government to help the youth gain practical experience, develop skills and contribute positively to society. All participants are required to have a good understanding of the German language in both hearing, speaking and writing. So having a valid B1 certificate from Goethe Institute or Telc is an advantage for a candidate to be chosen to participate in the program.

BFD

BFD is an abbreviation of the German word Bundesfreiwilligendienst. Bundesfreiwilligendienst is a programme designed by the German government to help individuals above 26 years of age to engage in voluntary social service for a certain period. This programme is geared towards offering opportunities for individuals who want to make a positive impact on society and gain valuable experiences. To participate one needs a valid B1 certificate from Goethe Institute or Telc, high school certificate/ college certificate to join and impact the society positively.

Au Pair

Au Pair is a cultural exchange program that allows young people aged between 18 years to 30 years from foreign countries to live with a host family in a country while taking care of the family's children and participating in the family's daily life. The Aupairs gain valuable childcare experience and improve their language skills. To participate in the Aupair programme one needs a valid A1 German certificate for those interested in Germany or Austria and must be between 18 years to 26 years of age.

Ausbildung

Ausbildung is a German word that translates to "Vocational Training" in English. It is a training program that prepares individuals above 18 years for a specific occupation or profession. Generally, Ausbildung programmes provide practical skills and education to individuals who want to join the workforce directly after completing formal high school education. It combines theoretical classroom instruction with practical on-the-job training, allowing participants to gain hands-on experience in their chosen field. For one to participate B2 German language certificate is required by most institutions, since it is taught in the German language.
