Testimonials
J. Ndichu (Kenyan)
I attended my classes at Goethe Institute where I took A1 to A2 German-level classes. Fortunately, I passed my A2 exam and got a certificate. Later as I was studying B1 German level I came across informative videos on a YouTube Channel- SallieKlaus World. Sallie in one of her videos, requested all her followers with a B1 certificate to inbox her on Instagram. That is how I got information on how I can apply for a volunteer opportunity (FSJ).
B. Kuria (Kenyan)
I was a volunteer in Kenya and my friend introduced me to a random video on YouTube which I didn't know before but later I found out that it is owned by SallieKlaus. SallieKlaus enlightened me on how I can also offer volunteer services in Germany since it is my passion to give back to society. Thank you so much SallieKlaus for guiding me through the process of FSJ. Ben Kuria

Frequently Asked Questions
BFD usually lasts for 12 months, while FSJ offers more flexibility, allowing participants to choose between 6 and 18 months of service.
FSJ (Freiwilliges Soziales Jahr) and BFD (Bundesfreiwilligendienst) are volunteer programs in Germany that offer young individuals and adults the chance to engage in social service, gain experience, and contribute to various organizations activities in the society.
FSJ is generally open to individuals aged 18 to 27, while BFD has a wider age range and is open to people aged 27 and older. Both programs are open to German and international participants.
Placements are available in various fields, including social services, healthcare, education, culture, and the environment. Organizations can range from schools and hospitals to NGOs and community centers.
Both FSJ and BFD facilitate the participants with pocket money for sustainability. Some organizations offer health insurance while others go an extra mile to offer even accommodation. The pocket money offered is not a salary or compensation for the services someone offers because it is a volunteer program which one offers willingly as his or her heart desires.
